Sep 19-20, 1980: in exchange for 3 months of radio play for “Could You Be Loved” on New York’s biggest R&B station, Bob agrees to join a bill with @thecommodores on a two-night run @thegarden. The song itself, the concerts, and the previous year’s residency @apollotheater in Harlem, were all part of Bob’s efforts to reach Black American audiences, who were mostly listening to funk, disco and R&B, and slower to catch on to reggae at that time. #todayinbobslife | Bob Marley
