To celebrate their 78th birthday, Chicago’s CTA operated a pair of vintage cars around The Loop! Running for several hours midday and allowing any ticketed passengers to board or disembark, the century-old 4000-series cars garnered plenty of attention from trainspotters and commuters alike! Numbered 4271 and 4272, these were built by the Cincinnati Car Company in 1923! The 4000-series lasted in active service in Chicago until 1973, at which point the last cars were retired. These are my favorite
