A leopard in pursuit of the Impala. A leopard's hunting strategy is either to ambush or stalk its prey. In both cases, it seeks to approach its prey from as close as possible. A quick and explosive charge (up to 60 km/h) follows, after which the leopard pounces on its prey and kills it with a bite to the neck. Leopards eat a variety of prey, including impalas, spotted deer, bamboo rats, monkeys, and small birds. However, these big cats can eat a variety of foods and are not picky eaters. The leo
