Pandemonium erupted Thursday at the Giro d’Italia after a massive crash struck the race on wet roads with about 70km to go. A Red Bull–Bora–Hansgrohe rider appeared to clip wheels in the bunch, triggering a high-speed pileup that scattered bodies and bikes across the tarmac just as the race approached the treacherous urban streets of Naples.
