One of the biggest misconceptions on the hammer curl is thinking it’s a bicep dominant exercise. In reality, by taking a neutral wrist position, you’re making the curl more brachialis and Brachioradialis biasing. When someone’s hips rise too early in the deadlift, the first thing I usually look at is their setup. In most cases, the bar is either not lined up over the midfoot, it has been pushed forward away from the body, or the lifter is not engaging their lats effectively, allowing the bar to drift.
