Yuki is an orphaned grey headed flying fox rescued from the NSW fires and drought. Grey headed flying foxes are a nationally listed vulnerable species. He was half the weight he should have been when he was first rescued but quickly started thriving in care with his carer. Yuki is now learning to fly and socialise with the other orphans. It's flying-fox birthing season and our workload is increasing daily mostly due to the rescue of flying-foxes out of large aperture anti bird netting thrown over fruit trees. However, on this occasion, it was a child's backyard soccer net that trapped poor Susan and her baby. Now in care with us and with her injuries cleaned and dressed, Susan will hopefully be able to still care for her baby whilst in rehab.
