I bought the brokenest PS5 I could find on eBay! It was shipped to me in pieces and one of the biggest problems from the start is that there is liquid metal all over the motherboard. Since liquid metal conducts electricity, having it on the board like that means it could cause shorts and damage components. Plus, it's really hard to clean it up completely. | TronicsFix

Back in March 2025 I paid $299 on eBay for this broken PS5 - the first one I'd seen for sale that wasn't banned. Seller said it won't power on and the HDMI port is messed up. When starting to diagnose this Nintendo Switch it would charge but nothing would show up on the screen. When I opened it up there was obviously liquid damage and whatever the liquid was left things pretty gross. Also, I could tell something had it apart already and had not put things back correctly. I spent quite a bit of time cleaning things up. I also reconnected a capacitor and replaced the game card reader. I found these two broken special edition Nintendo Switch OLEDs on eBay and had to buy them to try to get them working again. The Tears of the Kingdom Switch has a charge issue and won't turn on. Plus, whoever worked on it before wrecked the controller rail ribbon cables. The Pokemon Switch charges fine but won't turn on. It has a broken screen so I'll need to find an OLED with a working screen to swap the parts into. | TronicsFix
