Burns in the outdoors can be caused by campfire flare-ups, stove accidents, scalding from spilled cooking water, and, not surprisingly, sunburn. Knowing how to treat them is a good foundational skill for all adventurers. | NOLS Wilderness Medicine

Be careful around hot barbecues and remind yourself how to help someone with a burn. 1) Cool the burn under cold running water for at least ten minutes 2) After the burn has been cooled, cover it with cling film or a clean plastic bag 3) Call 999 if necessary. #FridayFirstAid | British Red Cross
