The ducklings decided that muddy puddles in the polytunnel were far more exciting than staying clean, so here I am giving them a very gentle rinse in the kitchen sink before new customers arrive to collect them today. Quick wash, careful towel dry (yes, that tea towel will never be the same again), then they’re off in front of the log burner to get properly warm and fluffy. It’s not glamorous, but it’s real. Oh my God, I made such a twit of myself yesterday. I was convinced all birds had to be locked down — turns out I was wrong.
