The schottische dance is part of the Creole heritage of the Corn Islands and of Afro-descendant and English-influenced communities across the Caribbean region of Central America. Once popular throughout the late 19th and 20th centuries, it is now rarely seen, as many tradition bearers have passed on or grown old.
