New Exeter Bus Station opens in the city centre

EXETER City Council has revealed that it is putting plans to close Exeter Bus Station temporarily on hold. | Exeter City Council

Work is gathering pace to demolish the former Exeter bus station in the city centre with heavy machinery starting to demolish the canopy. Over the next few months contractor Wring Group will remove asbestos from the site in Bampfylde Street, while the current buildings and structures will be knocked down and the site made secure. Temporary uses for the space are being considered once demolition is complete. In the longer term the area is expected to be redeveloped with new buildings and uses. Re

Here's a first look inside the new bus station which will be opening in the summer. The striking new Exeter Bus Station features glass-fronted waiting and boarding areas and high quality facilities. It will replace the existing bus station which was opened in 1964. Council Leader Phil Bialyk said he was delighted to see the progress that has been made on the new station.
