An unusual bird of Florida wetlands, the Limpkin (Aramus guarauna) has become more readily seen at the Sanctuary and elsewhere in Florida in recent decades. In addition to Everglades restoration helping improve nesting and foraging habitat around the state, the unfortunate arrival of invasive apple snails in our wetlands seems to be benefiting these birds.
