The award-season campaign for Zoe Saldaña is officially off to the races as she took home the Golden Globe on Sunday for Best Performance For Best Female Actor in a Supporting Role for Emilia Pérez. Before thanking her cast and crew, Saldaña gave a shout-out to her fellow nominees and appreciated how graceful they all have been.

The actress won her first ever Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for her role as Rita Mora Castro in Jacques Audiard’s avant-garde film Emilia Pérez, which became one of last year’s most talked about films after its initial premiere at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.

Saldaña was also one of the performers on "El Mal" alongside costar Karla Sofía Gascón, 52, and the two received a shoutout from the song's co-creator Camille in her acceptance speech: " 'El Mal' wouldn't be what it is without your performance. You just should shake the house, and shake our souls. Salud." Emilia Pérez is now streaming on Netflix.

Saldaña has spent over a decade starring in the "Avatar" and "Guardians of the Galaxy" films, but starring in a musical from Jacques Audiard was the first challenge she'd had in a while.

Emilia Pérez also won Best Motion Picture—Musical or Comedy, defeating notable contenders like Wicked. The film’s lead star, Karla Sofía Gascón, closed the night with a moving speech, marking a historic moment as the first transgender woman nominated for a lead actress Golden Globe.
