A pair of voting advocacy groups founded by Georgia politician Stacey Abrams were hit with an historic $300,000 fine for violating state campaign finance laws.

The nonprofit agreed to pay a $300,000 fine over its spending in support of the Georgia Democrat's candidacy during the 2018 governor's race.

The New Georgia Project, whose leaders also included Raphael Warnock, now a senator, admitted violating campaign finance laws. It agreed to a $300,000 penalty.
