SUSPECT CAPTURED: Vance Boelter, the suspect in the fatal shootings of a Minnesota lawmaker and her husband, as well as the woundings of another lawmaker and his wife, has been captured.

Lawmakers in some states are moving to delete their home addresses from online directories after one Minnesota legislator was killed and another wounded in their suburban Minneapolis homes last weekend.

U.S. Rep. Joyce Beatty, a Columbus Democrat, said her name was found on the materials of the man accused of shooting 2 Minnesota Democratic lawmakers.

Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah), appeared to blame the assassination of Smith’s friend, Minnesota state Rep. Melissa Hortman, on the political left. Smith sought him out to chat.

In mid-June 2025, a rumor began to spread that Vance Boelter, the accused shooter of two Minnesota Democratic state lawmakers and their spouses on June 14, had once been appointed a member of the Governor's Workforce Development Board by Democratic Gov. Tim Walz. One of the targeted couples died.

The killing of a Minnesota lawmaker is the first deadly attack against a politician in the state in more than three decades.
