Fateh won the Democratic nomination with more than 60% of the delegate vote in the race for Minneapolis mayor.
Omar Fateh, 35, a Minnesota state Senator, won the endorsement of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party for Minneapolis mayor over Jacob Frey, who has been in office since 2018.
Omar Fateh was endorsed by a vote of hands Saturday after Mayor Jacob Frey reportedly instructed his delegates to leave the endorsing convention.
Saying the election should be "decided by our entire city" and "not by a handful of delegates," Mayor Frey is pushing forward to November.
