Freakier Friday has finally landed in theaters, 22 years after the original – we can't believe how many years have passed either. This follow-up to the 2003 comedy, Freaky Friday, stars Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis as mother-daughter duo Anna and Tess.

New Line's horror pic and Disney's family comedy delivered a double win at the late summer box office, as well as a victory for two challenged genres.

“ Weapons ,” a twisty horror film about a group of missing children, and “ Freakier Friday ,” a body swap comedy, delivered a potent one-two punch at the box office this weekend, lifting ticket sales as summer movie season draws to a close.

The dress comes back at the very end of Freakier Friday when, in a funny callback moment, Chad Michael Murray's character Jake attends Anna's (Lohan) wedding with a date named Bess who looks shockingly similar to Tess (Curtis). And what is she wearing? The Diane von Furstenberg dress.

The Oscar winner scolded Time’s Stephanie Zacharek for being a mean girl in trashing the light sequel starring her and Lindsay Lohan ― who appear together again as the body-swapping mother and daughter from 2003’s “Freaky Friday.”

Freakier Friday is a follow-up to the original Freaky Friday, which sees mother Tess (Curtis) and daughter Anna ( Lindsay Lohan) swap bodies, which ultimately helps strengthen their relationship. In its sequel, viewers see another body swap, but this time, it adds a multigenerational twist. Chad Michael Murray also returns in the film.
