Leaders at the Masonic Temple say the basement of the historic downtown Evansville building hasn’t had a drop of water in it since the Great Flood of 1937.

On Tuesday at 8:08 a.m. a flood warning was issued by the National Weather Service valid from Friday 5 a.m. until further notice for Choctaw, Clarke and Washington counties.

With more rain in the forecast this week, officials are urging residents to stay alert and avoid flooded roads.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Burdette Park’s pools are back open after flooding this week. There are some restrictions though; they are still cleaning up damage at the family and kids pools. Assistant Director Colton Meyer tells us with this clean up. it gives them a chance to do more maintenance for other areas.

What started as a sudden and severe round of flooding in Washington County has now turned into a major cleanup effort, especially in South Strabane Township.

Recent torrential rains caused record-breaking floods in the South and Eastern U.S., causing nearly 20 deaths. Floods resulted in considerable infrastructure damage, challenging rescue efforts. With more rain forecast and grounds already saturated, further flooding continues to be a severe risk.
