Marisa Abela, who portrayed late singer Amy Winehouse in biopic "Back to Black," and David Jonsson, most recently seen in sci-fi horror "Alien: Romulus", are among the five nominees for the EE Rising Star Award at next month's British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Film Awards.

Back to Black’ s Marisa Abela and Anora star Mikey Madison are among the actors nominated for the Bafta 2025 Rising star Award. Alien: Romulus ’s David Jonsson, When They See Us alum Jharrel Jerome and In Camera star Nabhaan Rizwan round out the list for the public-voted prize, which was announced on Tuesday (7 January).

Jan. 7 (UPI) --stars Five young actors were nominated Tuesday for the 2025 BAFTA Rising Star Award. The nominees are: Marisa Abela from Back to Black, Jharrel Jerome from Unstoppable, David Jonsson from Alien: Romulus, Mikey Madison from Anora, and Nabhaan Rizwan from In Camera .

Jharrel Jerome, David Jonsson and Nabhaan Rizwan are also nominated for the award which was won by Sex Education star Emma Mackey in 2023

The list this year includes Jharrel Jerome ('Unstoppable') and Nabhaan Rizwan ('In Camera') alongside Abela ('Back To Black'), Madison ('Anora') and Jonsson ('Alien: Romulus').

This year’s crop of rising stars includes an Oscar hopeful, an Emmy winner, and three vets of HBO’s ‘Industry.’
