Southern California wildfire spreads to nearly 5,000 acres as residents in Los Angeles evacuate
The wildfire has consumed 4,856 acres and is currently not contained. Roughly 14,000 people and 5,000 buildings are covered by current evacuation orders, according to fire officials.
The blaze, called the Canyon fire, began early Thursday afternoon near Lake Piru, a reservoir about 60 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles.
