The second of five storms that will slam the eastern half of the United States with snow and ice over a two week period is on the way – and this one has more snow than the first.

Another winter storm will rush across the Midwest and the Northeast this weekend, bringing snow and ice along the way.

Snow totals varied across the state, with accumulations approaching as high as 2.5 inches along and north of Route 2, forecasters said.

Meanwhile, a swath of the Central and Eastern U.S. was under winter weather advisory, which the NWS issues "for any amount of freezing rain, or when 2 to 4 inches of snow (alone or in combination with sleet and freezing rain), is expected to cause a significant inconvenience, but not serious enough to warrant a warning."

For the second time in two days, parts of New Jersey have been placed under winter weather alerts — this time for a Super Bowl weekend storm that could dump up to 4 to 6 inches of snow along with a sloppy mix of snow,

The National Weather Service says another winter storm will hit the mid-Hudson Valley Saturday night and early Sunday morning.

On Wednesday at 2:48 p.m. the NWS Medford OR issued a winter weather advisory valid from Thursday 4 p.m. until Friday 10 a.m. The advisory is for Central Siskiyou County and Northeast Siskiyou and Northwest Modoc counties as well as Modoc County.
