A new wildfire was reported today at 6:09 p.m. in San Diego County. Oak Fire has been burning on private land. Currently, there is no data on the containment status of the fire and the cause has yet to be determined.

Whether in terms of positive tests, symptoms observed in emergency departments or total reported cases, San Diego County’s flu activity appears to have ebbed a bit last week, according to the latest weekly tracking report released Thursday by the county health department.

A deer mouse collected at the park on Jan. 3 tested positive for the virus. There were a total of 25 positive cases among rodents reported in 2024, up from 17 in 2023.

A red flag warning for critical fire danger, due to strong winds and low humidity, will remain in effect until 6 p.m. Wednesday for the County mountains and inland valleys.

Wind gusts have peaked for the most part here in San Diego County, but dry and breezy afternoon conditions will keep the Red Flag Warning in place for valleys and mountains until 6 p.m. Wednesday.

A red flag warning was set to expire for San Diego County Wednesday as Santa Ana winds diminish, although dry conditions could still create concern for wildfires in the days to come, forecasters said.
