The Phoenix Police Department had a win Wednesday when the jury sided with them in a federal civil rights lawsuit that claimed officers unfairly targeted two protesters because of their anti-police views.

The jury issued their decision and decided there was not enough evidence to prove officers violated the First Amendment rights of Jorge Soria and Phil Martinez, the two protestors who filed a lawsuit against Phoenix officers after they were arrested in July 2019.

Trial began seven months after the U.S. Department of Justice declared the Phoenix Police Department engaged in patterns of civil rights violations and excessive force.
