New York Giants assistant head coach and offensive coordinator Mike Kafka is a finalist for the New Orleans Saints job but if he doesn't get it, he can expect additional responsibility in East Rutherford next season.

The Giants finished 30th overall (294.8 yards/game), 23rd in rushing (104.9 yards/game), and 28th in passing (189.9 yards/game), with head coach Brian Daboll calling the plays during the team’s 3-14 season.

Kafka completed an in-person interview with the Saints last Saturday, his second with the team. Soon after that, he left to begin his duties coaching the National team in the Senior Bowl this week.

Kafka is a finalist for the Saints head coaching job, having met with them in New Orleans for an in-person second interview. The Saints, after speaking with Kafka, flew to Philadelphia to meet with Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore and it appears Moore could be the favorite.

New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen said he hopes that assisted head coach and offensive coordinator Mike Kafka doesn't get hired away by another NFL team this offseason. Kafka is one of six candidates being considered for the New Orleans Saints head coaching vacancy.

According to Jordan Raanan of ESPN, Kafka is expected to bring former Giants defensive coordinator Wink Martindale with him to New Orleans in the same role. Martindale spent two seasons with the Giants as the defensive coordinator under head coach Brian Daboll before the former's fiery and extremely public exit during the 2024 offseason.
