Manchester Airport closed its runways this morning due to the weather. The airport says that 'significant levels of snow' led to the decision at 9am this morning. It came after snowfall has caused travel chaos across Greater Manchester this morning. Temperatures plummeted again in the region as the cold snap continues this week.

A Met Office weather warning for snow and ice covered Wigan, the rest of Greater Manchester was not issued a warning. Snow and ice has led to havoc on many of the regions road, while several schools have closed today.
