The parent company of Macy’s announced this week that it will be closing several dozen stores, which includes its Coeur d’Alene location at the Silver Lake Mall. With the closure, it will leave the Macy’s at Spokane Valley Mall, at 14740 E. Indiana Ave., as the only local store left standing of the iconic retailer.

The Christmas shopping season, the peak sales period for many retailers, is past, followed by the season when struggling retailers often announce closures. No sooner did Kohl’s announce plans to shutter some of its stores in Idaho and elsewhere than Macy’s followed suit.

The Macy’s store at Silver Lake Mall will close as part of the company’s plan to shut down more than 60 locations across the U.S.
