A man who was allegedly threatening people with a machete in Portland’s Old Town neighborhood was arrested Wednesday night after a four-hour standoff, police say.

Portland police have called the Special Emergency Reaction Team and Crisis Negotiation Team to the 600 block of Northwest Naito Parkway, just north of the Steel Bridge. The parkway is closed to all traffic, and several sidewalks and pathways are blocked.

Northwest Naito Parkway was shut down, and residents were asked to stay inside with doors locked as officers dealt with a man reportedly wielding a machete.
