LOUISVILLE, Ky. — An investigation is underway in Franklin County following a shooting involving police early Saturday. According to Kentucky State Police, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call for a man experiencing a mental health crisis around 7:30 a.m.

Franklin County officers responded to a home for a report of a 12-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to the head. He later died of his injuries.

Missouri State Highway Patrol are still searching for the vehicle that drove off. The victim was struck and killed on I-44.
