Celtic has signed striker Jota from Rennes in time for the Champions League knockout phase. The deal on Monday brings him back to Scotland for about one third of the fee Celtic got selling him to Saudi Arabia 18 months ago.

Celtic have re-signed Portuguese winger Jota on a five-and-a-half-year contract subject to international clearance, the Scottish club said on Monday, while striker Kyogo Furuhashi joined Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais.

Celtic have completed the return of Jota from Rennes while Kyogo Furuhashi has finalised a move in the opposite direction. Japan striker Kyogo, who joined Celtic in summer 2021 at the same time as Jota, has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with the club sitting third bottom of Ligue 1.

Celtic have seen Kyogo Furuhasi leave for France, but had already done some business of their own, bringing Jota back to the club.

Ligue 1 side Rennes signed Japanese international Kyogo Furuhashi from Celtic on Monday, with Portuguese forward Jota rejoining the Scottish champions.The Portugal under-21 international left the Glasgow outfit to join Saudi side Al Ittihad before moving to Rennes in August last year.
