The FBI will move its headquarters to a building complex blocks away from its current home in Washington, the agency announced on Tuesday, setting up an end to a drawn-out battle over the agency’s new home.

The FBI and the General Services Administration announced Tuesday the Ronald Reagan Building complex in downtown Washington has been selected for the FBI’s new headquarters, and a cohort of Maryland members of Congress said they would fight back against the proposal.

The decision represents a turnabout from plans announced during the Biden administration to move the FBI to a site in Greenbelt, Maryland. The suburban Washington location was selected over nearby Virginia following a sharp competition between the two states.
