MONTREAL — Dylan Larkin could spot his dad pretty easily. “He’s got the whitest hair,” Larkin said. So when Larkin kept the puck on a two-on-rush and scored to break a one-all tie between Team USA and Canada late in the second period on Saturday night, he didn’t have any trouble finding father Kevin.
With Larkin's goal, the Americans beat Canada 3-1 on Saturday night. But the victory will mean nothing if they don’t win on Thursday.
Things are scrappy early between the teams, but the United States is the one wrapping up a spot in the championship matchup.
“That was one of the best experiences of my life,” Larkin told media at the Bell Centre. “Just an unbelievable hockey game.” Larkin snapped a 1-1 tie at 13:33 of the second period, burying a shot past Jordan Binnington on a two-on-one break. Larkin set up Jake Guentzel for an empty-net goal with 1:19 remaining.

Red Wings can’t protect two-goal lead in third, lose in OT
Marco Rossi scored at 3:35 of overtime Saturday and the Minnesota Wild defeated the Detroit Red Wings 4-3 at Little Caesars Arena in the first game following a two-week 4 Nations Face-Off break. The Red Wings squandered a 3-1 lead in the final seven minutes of regulation but had an excellent chance to win in overtime when Rossi was penalized for tripping.
Just Tampa Bay Lightning’s Jake Guentzel shining the brightest on the biggest stage. Team USA was behind enemy lines on Saturday night when it took on Canada in Montreal, but the 30-year-old forward stepped up with one of the best performances of his career.
