On Tuesday it was announced that KFC, the fast food giant formerly known as Kentucky Fried Chicken, is moving its U.S. headquarters from Louisville in Kentucky to Plano, a city on the northern outskirts of Dallas.
The KFC chain — launched by Colonel Harland Sanders and his secret blend of 11 herbs and spices — will be based in Plano, Texas, and about 100 KFC corporate employees will be relocated in the next six months, said Yum Brands, which owns KFC, Taco Bell and Pizza Hut.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott has suggested Kentucky Fried Chicken should change its name to Texas Fried Chicken, after KFC announced it is moving its U.S. headquarters to the Lone Star State. Newsweek contacted Yum! Brands, KFC's parent company, for comment on Thursday outside of regular office hours.
