Temperatures rebound back into the low 30s Friday and mid-30s Saturday with overnight lows only falling into the upper teens to low 20s this weekend and much of next week. Strong southwest flow and high pressure bring in a big warmup by the start of next week with highs reaching into the low to mid-40s with sunshine for much of the week.

Dodson said on Sunday and Monday, temperatures will be roughly 15 to 25 degrees below normal. Iowa is even nearing the typical coldest day of the year, Jan. 18, and is still far below expected temperatures. In Des Moines, temperatures are usually at a high of 31 and a low of 14 during January, according to the NWS.
