Kevin Hayes, Sidney Crosby and Anthony Beauvillier each had a goal and an assist to help the Pittsburgh Penguins end the Los Angeles Kings' nine-game home winning streak with a 5-1 victory on Monday night.

The Pittsburgh Penguins (20-21-8) were firmly in control until a pair of late second-period penalties. The LA Kings (30-11-5) converted on a two-man advantage to close within 3-1 and seize palpable momentum.

After a trio of overtime games, none of which became wins, the Pittsburgh Penguins badly needed a victory. However, facing a team that has beaten, if not embarrassed, them for a few years running was not the most advantageous situation.

Sidney Crosby moved up in the NHL record book and Bryan Rust ignited a four-goal outburst in the first period as the Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the visiting Edmonton Oilers 5-3 on Thursday. It was the Penguins' first win over the Oilers in more than five years.

The Penguins got the best of the Oilers through sheer hard work and smart defensive strategy — and a little star power from both teams.

Unfortunately for Penguins fans, a fire sale might be the best way to go. They've missed the playoffs the past two years, and this season, they're on the outside looking in. Recent moves by general manager Kyle Dubas also haven't worked out.

Dubas however has other trade chips available in pending unrestricted free agents like Anthony Beauvillier and Marcus Pettersson, but there is a sense that all players except for Crosby and Geno are being considered.
