NEWTON, Iowa (KCRG) - A group of semi-trucks have crashed on I-80 near Newton, according to reports by Iowa State Patrol. Severe weather conditions have resulted in extremely low visibility across Iowa roads, specifically in western and central Iowa. Travel is not advised across the state.

Evelyn Bothmer, 99, was struck by an Iowa City Fire Department truck that was leaving the scene, according to an Iowa State Patrol crash report. Bothmer, who was described as a pedestrian, died at the scene. The truck was driven by Brandon Pflanzer, who is also president of the union representing the department's firefighters.

IOWA CITY, Iowa (KWQC) - A 99-year-old woman was hit and killed by a city firetruck in Iowa City early Saturday morning. Iowa State Patrol said at 7:13 a.m., an Iowa City firetruck was leaving a medical call at Legacy Senior Living at 1020 S Scott Blvd when it hit the woman. Troopers identified the woman as Evelyn Bothmer.
