Jan. 7 (UPI) -- The Los Angeles Chargers agreed to sign veteran running back Ezekiel Elliott for their playoff run. Sources told ESPN, NFL Network and Fox Sports about the signing Monday. The Dallas Cowboys released Elliott on Dec. 31. He will start out with the Chargers practice squad.
The Cowboys released Elliott on Dec. 31 ahead of the team’s season finale, ending his second stint in Dallas after appearing in 15 games this year. Elliott had originally been drafted by the Cowboys in 2015 and played eight years with Dallas before being released after the 2022 season.
Elliott is reportedly being signed to the Chargers' practice squad, but "with the hope" that he can get up to speed quickly with the playoffs looming.
