Rory Kerins’ time with the Calgary Flames – at least for now – has come to an end. The Flames announced on Monday (Jan. 27) morning that he had been re-assigned to the Calgary Wranglers of the American Hockey League (AHL).

The Calgary Flames announced they have assigned forward Rory Kerins to their AHL affiliate Calgary Wranglers. The 22-year-old made his NHL debut on Jan. 13 against the Chicago Blackhawks and recorded two assists. He has four assists and is a +3 in five games with the Flames while averaging 12:14 of ice time per game.

The Minnesota Wild are struggling to regain their footing after losing five of their past six games ahead of their visit on Sunday to the Chicago Blackhawks. Wild coach John Hynes challenged the team after Saturday's 5-4 home loss to the Calgary Flames.

CHICAGO -- Matt Boldy had three assists, and the Minnesota Wild held on for a 4-2 victory against the Chicago Blackhawks at United Center on Sunday. Boldy has 14 points (five goals, nine assists) in his past 11 games.

The Chicago Blackhawks and Minnesota Wild were meeting in tumultuous times. Both teams had lost their previous two games, with Minnesota losing 5-4 to the Calgary Flames the night before.

It wasn't an overly convincing win, but the Wild got the job done against one of the worst teams in the NHL on Sunday evening. They started hot, then held on and were able to avoid blowing a 3-0 lead in a 4-2 road victory over the Chicago Blackhawks.

Jared Spurgeon put the Wild up 1-0 at 5:43 of the first period, taking a pass in the slot from Boldy and putting the puck past the stick side of Mrazek. Frederick Gaudreau made it 2-0 at 7:17, when his shot from the bottom of the right face-off circle got past Mrazek on the short side.

Clark Bishop made it a three-goal game 11 minutes, 53 seconds into the third period. Then the Wild (28-17-4) tried to make a push. Freddy Gaudreau scored a power-play goal 2 minutes, 22 seconds later to cut it back to two. While Kuzmenko scored his second of the night just 14 seconds later for the apparent dagger, it wasn't quite over.

The Wild found relief from their rut with their most tried-and-true remedy: playing on the road. Like clockwork, they left St. Paul and immediately improved, using a strong start to hold off the Chicago Blackhawks 4-2 on Sunday night at United Center for just their second victory in seven games.

Andrei Kuzmenko had two goals and an assist, and the Calgary Flames used their power play to beat the Minnesota Wild 5-4 on Saturday night.
