UVA Basketball fans will see two familiar faces on the visitor sidelines on Saturday (6 p.m. ET, ESPN) with Maryland, a former hated ACC foe, in town.

Fueled by Kymora Johnson’s 41-point masterpiece, Virginia erupted in the second half en route to an 88 – 53 victory over Winthrop.

Virginia’s defense kept Maryland at bay, though, forcing 19 total turnovers and preventing the Terrapins from taking complete control. Odom described the defense as a crucial stopgap while the offense tried to regain its footing.

Maryland arrived in Charlottesville after one of its most promising performances of the season, a 101-83 loss to #2 Michigan.

The Cavaliers revealed their third uniform for the 2025-26 season in a series of posts on Wednesday: UVA went 14 years without wearing orange uniforms, a hallmark of the Ralph Sampson era, before re-introducing them in 2024. The Cavaliers are off to a 9-1 start to their first season under head coach Ryan Odom.

The Virginia Tech Hokies survived an upset bid from the Elon Phoenix on Saturday, escaping with an 82-81 overtime victory. Already without senior forward Tobi Lawal, the Hokies learned before the game they’d be without freshman star Neoklis Avdalas (illness) and freshman big man Antonio Dorn (back).

Dallin Hall scored a season-high 20 points, Jacari White had a spectacular dunk and scored 15, and No. 23 Virginia beat Maryland 80-72.
