Todd Nelson leaving Hershey Bears’ helm to take assistant coaching job with NHL team
Nelson, who led Hershey to back-to-back Calder Cup championships, is leaving the Bears’ organization to take an assistant coaching job on the staff of new Pittsburgh Penguins’ head coach Dan Muse. The Bears won AHL titles in Nelson’s first two seasons as head coach before losing to the Charlotte Checkers in the Atlantic Division Finals this season.
Former professional hockey player Guido Tenesi, who starred in the 1977 sports classic “Slap Shot,” died at 71 years old.
The Pittsburgh Penguins drafted Guido Tenesi in the 1973 NHL amateur draft. He is remembered fondly by fellow castmates as "forever a Chief." Tenesi was 71.
