Philadelphia did most of its heavy-lifting last week, signing Saquon Barkley to a historic contract extension and re-signing All-Pro linebacker Zack Baun. While Baun is back, the Birds are expected to lose some of their free agents.

According to a report from The Athletic's Dianna Russini, the Philadelphia Eagles are signing former Atlanta Falcons running back Avery Williams to a one-year contract. The 26-year-old spent last season as Atlanta's starting punt returner.

The Lions, who had the best record in the NFL at 15-2 before losing in the divisional round, added cornerback D.J. Reed, and re-signed two of their top defensive free agents in linebacker Derrick Barnes and edge rusher Marcus Davenport. Plus, they have star edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson back from a broken leg.

After his release from the Cleveland Browns, long-time long snapper Charley Hughlett has landed a one-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles. Hughlett was a mainstay in Cleveland for a decade, tying offensive guard Joel Bitonio as the longest-tenured member of the team.

The Eagles enter free agency with nearly all their starters set to return for the 2025 season, but there will be some holes to fill in the Birds’ roster. The Super Bowl champs lost two starters on the first day of free agency — edge rusher Josh Sweat and defensive tackle Milton Williams.
