Three wildfires continue to burn in the Los Angeles region, according to Cal Fire. The Palisades and Eaton fires have scorched nearly 40,000 acres, destroying thousands of homes and forcing tens of thousands of evacuations. The fires are 31% and 65% contained, respectively, but authorities said earlier this week that the blazes had little growth.

Los Angeles County has been devastated by two deadly wildfires that have become some of the most destructive in California history. The Palisades and Eaton fires both erupted on Jan. 7, fueled by severe drought conditions and strong Santa Ana winds.

Updating maps of Southern California show where wildfires, including the Palisades and Eaton fires, are burning across Los Angeles.

The Eaton and Palisades fires have burned more than 37,000 acres in Los Angeles County − an area larger than the city of San Francisco.

Crews are still struggling to get the upper hand on the two largest fires still burning. At least 25 people have died, but officials unfortunately expect that number to continue rising. Joe Moeller is live in Altadena with the latest on the ground there.
