Hundreds of West Virginia National Guard members will be deployed across the nation’s capital as part of the Trump administration’s effort to overhaul policing in the District of Columbia through a federal crackdown on crime and homelessness.

West Virginia National Guard troops are now being sent to Washington, DC, in an escalation of President Donald Trump’s efforts to federally take over law enforcement in the city.

At least 300 National Guard troops will be sent to Washington, D.C., nearly doubling the number of Guardsmen active in the capital.
