Katherine Legge's Cup Series debut at Phoenix was a "baptism of fire," but approving her to race was the right call by NASCAR.

British race car driver Katherine Legge can now add the NASCAR Cup Series to her long resume.Legge raced the No. 78 Chevrolet for Live Fast Motorsports at Phoenix Raceway on Sunday. She's the first woman to compete at NASCAR's biggest level since Danica Patrick raced in the 2018 Daytona 500.

Legge, a 44-year-old British driver, was the first woman to race in any NASCAR Cup Series race since Danica Patrick in 2018.
