Trey Anastasio of Phish, Billy Strings and Sturgill Simpson were among the special guests to join the band over three nights of concert and amid a city-wide celebration.

The walk up to the park was an event unto itself. RVs decked out in Dead murals lined the Panhandle, and a few blocks later JFK Boulevard was the site of nearly 100 vendor booths, selling everything from cheeky Ts mashing up the Steal Your Face logo with iconography of Southern country store chain Buc-ee's,

The dedication, held in the Excelsior District where Garcia grew up, kicked off a weekend of celebrations including Jerry Day and three Dead & Company concerts in Golden Gate Park.
