The Gifford fire, which has been fueled by dry conditions and warm weather, has spread to two counties, officials said.

Gifford Fire initially started 3:44 p.m. Aug. 1 in San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara County, California. Since its discovery 27 hours ago, it has burned 30,519 acres. By Saturday evening, the fire crew effectively contained 5% of this fire. The blaze's cause remains under investigation.

Fire personnel from the Sacramento area are being deployed to Santa Barbara County to help with the response to a rapidly growing wildfire.
