DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — The mother of the officer killed in the shooting attack at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said he would put his life on the line again if it meant saving lives.

A DeKalb County community is mourning the loss of Officer David Rose. His mother, Deveane Atkinson, described Rose as someone who had always been ready to help others.

Officer David Rose died on Friday while responding to an active shooter near the campuses of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Emory University.
