Give us a brake. Self-proclaimed auto enthusiast Andrew Cuomo was ripped online Wednesday for a “cringe” new campaign video where he purports to help a man jump start a car in an unstaged New York City moment.

Former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said in a video released Monday that he will run an independent campaign for New York City mayor, weeks after losing the Democratic primary to Zohran Mamdani.

Mr. Cuomo, the former governor of New York, has vowed to run a more energetic campaign than he did in the mayoral primary, and aimed to demonstrate that on Tuesday.

The shocking vote of confidence came despite Mayor Eric Adams, who has repeatedly cozied up to Trump, also vying for re-election on an independent line in the general race. Adams has attacked Cuomo for staying in the race, claiming that he alone should be the one to take on Mamdani in November.
