Microsoft has announced that it made several performance improvements in Visual Studio 2022 in the 17.3 release. Mainly these enhancements relate to Git branch switching and C++.

Visual Studio 2022 version 17.1 is now generally available for production use, while Visual Studio 2022 version 17.2 is available in a preview.

Visual Studio 2012 is now able to connect to any Git host, including TFS, CodePlex, GitHub and Stash, using an extension available today as Update 2 preview.
