US President Donald Trump unveils plan for a Trump-class battleship as part of a sweeping push to modernize the US Navy and revive shipbuilding.

The first hull is expected to hit the water in 2028 as a more nimble companion to the Navy’s larger warships, Navy Secretary John Phelan said.

The Navy is racing to field a new generation of ballistic missile submarines that will eventually rank as the 12 largest boats it has ever operated, aiming to close a looming nuclear deterrent gap as the Ohio-class retires.
