An Indian national was shot dead by Jordanian security forces while trying to illegally enter Israel last month. The Indian national, named by the Independent as 47-year-old Thomas Gabriel Perera, traveled to Jordan in early February on a tourist visa.

Jordanian soldiers shot dead a 47-year-old man from Thumba, Thiruvananthapuram, Thomas Gabriel Pereira, on February 10 when he tried to illegally cross into Israel. Pereira was among a group of four who were allegedly misled by an agency offering Israeli work visas.

The family of an Indian man who was shot dead while illegally crossing into Israel say he was a victim of a job scam. Thomas Gabriel Perera was killed by Jordanian security forces by the border with Israel on 10 February.
